IPL:-THE MEGA EVENT

Cant help it, can we? Cricket runs like blood in our veins. So after all the hype, the hoopla, the glitz, the glamour, not to mention the hundreds of crores of rupees spent and gained, after all the excitement and blood rush finally the IPL ended today with the Rajasthan Royals winning the Trophy. And what a trophy it is,,,made of pure gold studded with diamonds ,rubies, yellow sapphires and what not. Quite easy to understand since it’s the most costly trophy in the world of sports. Now for the million dollar question what did we as viewers actually gain from IPL???
Apart from feuding with neighbours and friends over my team or urs( I know this very well coz I’ve been personally involved in a couple of them). Apart from finding the unnecessary controversies(read cheer leaders), apart from viewing our stars being auctioned off like commodities(cost of Dhoni,,,approx. 6.5 crores), apart from finding friends turn enemies(remember the Bhajji,Shreesanth slap game), apart from showing the clout of bigwigs in terms of franchisee(ppl who don’t even know C of cricket owning their teams), apart from accusations and allegations(Mallya-Dravid-Charu Sharma), apart from etching regionalism in minds of citizens(somewhat like the promotion ads), apart from having a nagging doubt of situations when rivals here meet team mates in the dressing room of the Indian National team, apart from fear of ego clashes what exactly has IPL given us?
Quite a lot…………… it has given us a preview of fresh talents in form of M.S.Gony, Asnodkar, Abhishek Nair, Yusuf Pathan etc.(To be specific I wanted to mention Gony here,,,,I think hez sooo HOT)It has revived the memories of some old forgotten favourites (Parthiv Patel, L Balaji). It has given a new meaning to word excitement. It has brought out exceptional leadership qualities of many players.
It has given something for crazy cricket fans something to look forward every year. It has brought out best in players. It has held up the age old adage of UNDERDOG VICTORY true. It has helped bridging gaps between countries and help reviving friendship. It has given newcomers a chance of playing alongside the Gods of Cricket and learn from them.
It has seen our bowlers getting a well deserved hat trick of hat tricks( Balaji, Shukla and Mishra). To be precise IPL has taken the whole country by STORM and be sure its craze is just going to increase.
LOVE IPL or HATE IPL but u just can’t IGNORE IPL Psst….I wanted KNIGHT RIDERS to win but ……sigh.
