A Black and White World

Nopes I’m not starting a debate on the various Rights and Wrongs. Just found a long lost bunch of pics I had sketched and remembered a skill that I had conveniently ignored for my sheer laziness.
I love colours. They are vibrant, they depict many moods, they have a cheerful appearance about them that’s something which is irreplaceable by mere sketches but the charm exuded by the pencil sketches is one of their own. It takes an understanding of light and reflections to make a good sketch…….too much technical views involved I’m afraid. But the end result is anything but technical, black and white pencil sketches gives a nostalgic feel to the subject, an old world beauty that ensures a trip down memory lane.

Humans are the best subjects that anyone can find. They varied expressions on faces are a thrill to capture……the meaningless smile of an infant( which evokes quite a no of sho shweets, sho cutes), the wide eyed innocence of a toddler, the impish mischief in a schoolboy, the harmless trickiness in a schoolgirl, the giggling teens, the hardworking labourers, the gypsy selling chudis, the pensive executive, the stern teacher, the mild elders, the blushing lovers, the confused student(I fall in this category but I’ve never attemted a self portrait) the rushing office goers the serene lady at the bus stop,,each have a different expression. In a way they even reflect the conflicting , contrasting thoughts goingin the human mind. These thoughts later on take shape with the strokes of a lead pencil. A harsh stroke showing anger, a soft one for a smile, a simple shade the shadows take,a smudge the delicate features define. No wonder,,,, portraits are the hardest to draw but easily the most cherishable.
Sometimes I feel no emotion
Sometimes no colour defines
Sometimes the light fades
Sometimes the darkness settles
Sometimes the lead tip beholds
A Black and White world.

Obsession Part 2

Felt like mentioning something about my other obsessions today “RAIN”
Ever found anything that can beat the magic of the first RAINS……..nopes I haven’t as yet. The entry of rains makes a grand event, dark overcast sky, trees swaying in breeze, dust flying in all directions everything seems to mark the arrival of the KING and then it comes ……starting with a slight drizzle it marks its entry and depending on the mood swings it lashes out or gently falls. The earth receives it with a welcoming smile and readily absorbs everything it gives. The trees get a wash and shine beyond themselves in ecstasy. The flowers bloom, new green life grows, but this all can change if the rain wishes ,,,if it gives life it can even destroy and wash away life without a trace
For me the rains are not just a seasonal occurrence, its more of a selfexpression, a depiction of the kind of person I am and of all the emotions I feel. Peace, mischief, happiness, love, hate, anger, frustration, sadness, worries everything is expressed by the rains. When I’m happy I wish it would just fall rhythmically having a fulfilling celebration. The now here, now gone rain is all mischievous as if the naughty downpour wants to play, a slight drizzle is a wish when peace is felt …oh so contended. A long walk or ride in pitter-patter rains is the perfect funda for a date. Anger and hatred finds meaning in thunder and lightning,,, uncontrollable and at times destructive. The torrential hard-hitting rains is an outlet for all the pent up sorrows, all the pain felt but cannot expressed is drowned in the falling water.
Then of course comes the ever magical rainbow,,,the seven colours of heaven lighting up on sky weaving an eternal tale of hope to find the gold at the end of the rainbow.
Words no doubt r a powerful tool but some feelings have to experienced to understand them perfectly and the getting drenched in the rains, becoming human again, becoming the kind of person without any care for the outer world is definitely one of them. Sometimes cheer, sometimes sinister, sometimes spelling out unspoken desire, that my dear is the majestic RAIN.

IPL:-THE MEGA EVENT

Cant help it, can we? Cricket runs like blood in our veins. So after all the hype, the hoopla, the glitz, the glamour, not to mention the hundreds of crores of rupees spent and gained, after all the excitement and blood rush finally the IPL ended today with the Rajasthan Royals winning the Trophy. And what a trophy it is,,,made of pure gold studded with diamonds ,rubies, yellow sapphires and what not. Quite easy to understand since it’s the most costly trophy in the world of sports. Now for the million dollar question what did we as viewers actually gain from IPL???
Apart from feuding with neighbours and friends over my team or urs( I know this very well coz I’ve been personally involved in a couple of them). Apart from finding the unnecessary controversies(read cheer leaders), apart from viewing our stars being auctioned off like commodities(cost of Dhoni,,,approx. 6.5 crores), apart from finding friends turn enemies(remember the Bhajji,Shreesanth slap game), apart from showing the clout of bigwigs in terms of franchisee(ppl who don’t even know C of cricket owning their teams), apart from accusations and allegations(Mallya-Dravid-Charu Sharma), apart from etching regionalism in minds of citizens(somewhat like the promotion ads), apart from having a nagging doubt of situations when rivals here meet team mates in the dressing room of the Indian National team, apart from fear of ego clashes what exactly has IPL given us?
Quite a lot…………… it has given us a preview of fresh talents in form of M.S.Gony, Asnodkar, Abhishek Nair, Yusuf Pathan etc.(To be specific I wanted to mention Gony here,,,,I think hez sooo HOT)It has revived the memories of some old forgotten favourites (Parthiv Patel, L Balaji). It has given a new meaning to word excitement. It has brought out exceptional leadership qualities of many players.
It has given something for crazy cricket fans something to look forward every year. It has brought out best in players. It has held up the age old adage of UNDERDOG VICTORY true. It has helped bridging gaps between countries and help reviving friendship. It has given newcomers a chance of playing alongside the Gods of Cricket and learn from them.
It has seen our bowlers getting a well deserved hat trick of hat tricks( Balaji, Shukla and Mishra). To be precise IPL has taken the whole country by STORM and be sure its craze is just going to increase.
LOVE IPL or HATE IPL but u just can’t IGNORE IPL Psst….I wanted KNIGHT RIDERS to win but ……sigh.
